This is Wendy Patrick, and I’m writing from the Manitoba Registry Board. We have received your application for a marriage license submitted on September 10th. However, there are a few discrepancies on the application that I need to point out, and you can address them with a quick response to this email.
Firstly, the application states that you and Ms. Amanda Smith have been together for over 5 years, but we found that the bank account that you entered as proof of your time together was only opened 3 years ago. So, we can only go according to the date regarding the bank account. We do notice that you moved here from Ontario at that time, so could it be that there was an account transfer? If there has, then you should give us the branch information from Ontario.
Secondly, regarding Ms. Smith’s child, Kaden, we need to receive a full child custody report from the legal courts filed with the application before we can issue the marriage license. Perhaps, you didn’t file one because this law was only passed about 2 months ago and we notice on the website that it hadn’t been updated. Furthermore, if Kaden is to take your legal name, this would involve a separate application form that needs to be filed by the original father. This process could take several months, so you should look into it right away. We do issue marriage licenses without the legal name change document, but this is just to let you know.
Lastly, there are some issues regarding your date of birth. Your license that you attached a copy of states it’s on November 19th, but on the application it’s listed as December 20th. However, Amanda’s date of birth is listed as November 19th, and her ID states it’s December 20th. We’re assuming that this was just written incorrectly since the bride and groom’s date of birth section are very close together. Actually, this is something that often occurs, so there’s no need to worry, but please change them on your copy of the record.
Once again Mr. Robertson, these are minor changes and nothing that can’t be done via email. You will have to get that custody document from court and you can attach it with your response. So as long as you respond by tomorrow we could issue your wedding license by the 30th without question.
Kind Regards,
Wendy Patrick.
