Dear Residents,

I hope this message finds you well. As your city councillor, I’m reaching out to share important news about a new initiative that will help us safeguard one of our most precious resources: water.

Starting July 1st, our city will launch a comprehensive Water Conservation Program designed to reduce water consumption, protect our environment, and ensure a sustainable supply for future generations. With climate patterns becoming less predictable and our population steadily growing, it’s crucial that we take proactive steps to manage our water use wisely. So, I will outline some of the main initiatives of this water conservation program:

Firstly, to reduce outdoor water waste, residential lawn watering will be limited to two days per week. Odd-numbered addresses may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays; even-numbered addresses on Thursdays and Sundays. Watering is permitted only before 9 a.m. and after 7 p.m.

Secondly, residents can apply for rebates of up to $100 when they upgrade to water-efficient toilets, washing machines, and irrigation systems. A list of eligible models and the application form will be available on the city website next week. Also, we are offering free in-home water audits to the first 500 residents who sign up. These audits will help identify leaks, inefficient fixtures, and provide practical tips to lower your water use—and your utility bill.

Lastly, we’ll be hosting a series of workshops this summer on smart water use, landscaping, and rainwater harvesting. Our schools will also receive new educational materials to teach kids about the importance of conservation.

This initiative is not just about rules—it’s about building a culture of sustainability in our community. Every drop we save together helps protect our rivers, reduce strain on infrastructure, and keep our water bills affordable.

To learn more or get involved, please visit our city website or contact my office directly with any feedback. Thank you for being part of the solution. I know that together, we can make a meaningful difference.

Warm regards,
Councillor Noah Chalmers
