Dear Community Members,
As Thanksgiving approaches, we’re reminded of how much we have to be thankful for — especially the amazing people who make our neighbourhood such a caring and supportive place to live. This year, the Riverside Community Centre is organizing a Thanksgiving Community Drive and Celebration to help local families in need and bring our community together in the true spirit of the season.
Starting September 5th through Thanksgiving Day, we’ll be collecting non-perishable food items, warm clothing, and household essentials for families in our area. Donations can be dropped off at the community centre’s front desk anytime during our regular hours, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some of the most needed items include canned goods, pasta, rice, baby supplies, winter coats, gloves, and blankets. Monetary donations are also welcome — they’ll go directly toward creating food hampers and providing grocery gift cards so every family can enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal.
To celebrate everyone’s generosity, we’ll be hosting a Thanksgiving Community Gathering on Saturday, October 14th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m at the Riverside Community Hall. Everyone is welcome to join us for an afternoon of good food, music, and friendship. The event will feature a shared meal with roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, and vegetarian options, along with live local music, fun activities for children, and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.
We’ll also take a few moments during the event to recognize the volunteers and donors whose kindness makes this possible. The celebration is free for everyone, but if you’re able, we invite you to bring a small donation — whether it’s food, clothing, or a new toy for a local child. Every item truly makes a difference.
If you’d like to volunteer, we’d love your help with sorting donations, decorating the hall, or serving food during the event. You can sign up by emailing us at info@riversidecommunity.ca or by calling (555) 321-8745. Even a few hours of your time would be greatly appreciated.
Let’s come together to make this Thanksgiving a season of connection, kindness, and gratitude. Your support helps ensure that no family in our neighbourhood feels left out during the holidays.
We look forward to celebrating with you soon!
Warm regards,
The Riverside Community Centre Team
